How does acupuncture work?
When a hair thin needle is placed at specific acupuncture points, it stimulates nerves in the skin, muscle, and fascia, sending signals through your nervous system. These nerve signals travel up to the brain and brainstem, where they can influence and direct the body to reduce circulating cortisol and adrenaline, which specifically helps to reduce inflammation and address pain.

The needle stimulates local sensory nerves, which engages the autonomic nervous system. The autonomic nervous system (ANS) controls all involuntary body functions. There are two branches of the autonomic nervous system (ANS), the sympathetic , "fight or flight" and the parasympathetic, "rest and digest". Acupuncture works by moving the "dial" toward the parasympathetic side of this branch, resulting in the body feeling a deep state of calm.

Over a course of treatment, this can help regulate the systems in your body that govern pain, inflammation, digestion, sleep, and hormonal balance.
Think of acupuncture as a reset ,
it nudges your body back toward its natural equilibrium.

Our specialized needles are hair-thin, sterile, and solid, far removed from the needles used for injections. Most patients describe the sensation as a light tap or a small pinch, followed by a subtle warmth. The treatment is relaxing; it is quite common for our clients to drift into a restorative nap as their nervous system begins to reset.
